Aquilegias

Completed Aquilegia kit from The Miniature Garden Centre, Georgina Steeds.

I put them in an old rustic wooden container and I think they suit it. I think I might put a little bit of gloss on the leaves. Really pleased with the kit, although it made me realise I really must get my eyes checked. They aren't what they used to be.

I will definitely look at what other kits Georgina offers.

Photos taken straight after completion so glue is still drying. Not perfect but neither is anything in my real garden!

  1. They look great! Love that bucket, too! I don't think I have this kit, but I have put together a few of her kits...and have many in my stash. :D

    1. Yes, I love the bucket but I got it in the 1990s and I don't know if they are still available. They work well for planters. I will definitely get some more kits. I'd love to try some red geraniums.

    1. This was my first attempt at a kit and I'll definitely do some more. I've tried making some of my own invention but they haven't been very successful to date.

  3. They look so fine and delicate....nice job! I must make a ton of flowers too...I have 4 sides of the house which need flowers, a roof garden and I'm intending to make an attachable garden for the french house....

    1. Wow, making flowers for four sides of a house is ambitious. It took me long enough to make this one plant. It will be well worth it though and I look forward to watching your blog. I love flowers in and around a home in real life and miniatures (although my own garden is sadly lacking).

  6. Thank you everyone for the lovely comments on the Aquilegias. Most of the credit has to go to Georgina Steeds for her lovely kit, but I was really pleased I managed to put it together. It is probably the fiddliest thing I have made since getting back into miniatures and probably one of the most satisfying. Of course I learnt a lot of 'what not to do' and I might get a second kit in the other colour and see how much better I can do the second time around.

  7. Hi Sharee,
Hope all is well with you and family. You have done a wonderful job with the kit. I have never tried but I am tempted to do lilys as they are a favourite of mine. Great to browse back in your older posts and see how much you have been doing. Sometimes inspiration musts hits and all goes well... Other times indecision hits,
    All the best.

    1. Thanks Janine. We are all good in this part of the world. Lillies would be fabulous to make. They are such a stunning plant and the colour range is lovely. You should have a go and post the results on your wonderful blog. I am feeling quite inspired to do miniatures at the moment. I think it is all the lovely things I see on other people's blogs that helps inspire me. I only seem to manage to do things in the weekend but I am really enjoying being creative again. It is Friday night here in New Zealand and I am looking forward to doing something in the weekend I can blog about.

    1. Thanks Kim. I totally agree with you about blogs. I find they inspire me to do miniatures and to try to step up my skill level to the level of the wonderful things we see on others' blogs. I've just had a quick look at your lovely blog and look forward to having a better look later in the day. Look forward to blogging with you.
