Selina Rose Gallery, New Minis and Timeless Toys

First of all a quick update on the Selina Rose Gallery. It now has some art installed on the second floor of the gallery.

I am sure there are more paintings to go in the gallery - art that my sister has done and I do not have a picture of yet and also art that she will do in the future. Luckily there is still some room on the walls of the ground floor.

I was very excited to receive a parcel in the mail yesterday from Spain from Carmen of Mi Pequena Evasion. I recently won some miniature items by answering a puzzle on her blog.  http://pekevasion.blogspot.co.nz/2013/12/jugamos.html

This is what I found inside the parcel:

The lovely little box and the wonderful mini items I received within it.

This gorgeous little house will look wonderful in Timeless Toys.

As will this picture of a mechanical teddy and the alphabet blocks.

And this beautiful bird plate is so lovely and I love anything to do with birds.

Thank you so much Carmen. I am thrilled with the miniatures received from you. They are so lovely to have within my collection.

Talking about my Timeless Toys project, unfortunately I have had to withdraw from the Undersized Urbanite Contest this year. Unexpectedly earlier this week my husband (the main income earner) lost his job. This means for the time being I cannot justify spending money on miniatures so it will be difficult to meet the May deadline. However, I will still be doing the Timeless Toys project by making use of items I already have so keep an eye out for future posts. I'm sure I can make many toys from bits and pieces I have lying around in my craft room.

These cute little resin bears are waiting to be housed in the Toy Shop. I managed to pick them up second hand recently. Aren't they cute. They are only 2cm high.

Just a reminder about my giveaway. It closes on Saturday 1 February.

I said that if I reached 100 followers before closing date I will come up with a second prize. I now have 95 followers so that is looking very likely. I will have to put my thinking cap on.

Have a great weekend.

  2. Hi Sharee! I am also dismayed to learn of your husband's job loss. There are so many that are facing the same situation and I know that it is a stressful and anxious time for you all, right now. I shall keep you all in my prayers, and like Susan has said, I also hope that he finds another job soon.
Meanwhile, I wish you hours and hours of fun with the lovely gifts from Carmen. How pretty they are! Enjoy them all! :D

  13. Hey Sharee, sorry to hear the news about your Hubby. I'll keep my fingers crossed that something good turns up.
Is there anything I can help you with in the way of miniature bits and pieces so that you can continue with the Undersize Urbanite contest?

    1. Hi Pepper. I saw your message as I was flying out the door this morning and I was bowled over by your kind thoughts and your generosity. Thank you so much for your kind offer. While I will not be entering the UU Contest this year I will still do the project I had planned. It may just take me a bit longer. It will be a good challenge to make do with what I have and might clear out my craftroom a bit besides! Hopefully I may be able to enter the contest next year. I also have a big to-do list to work through and a Dremel and Scroll Saw out in the shed that I haven't really learnt to use yet, so I have plenty to keep me going. Once again so much. You really made my day.

  14. Hi everyone. I just want to thank you all very much for all your kind thoughts on the news of my husband losing his job. They have been very much appreciated by both myself and my husband. Things may be a bit tough now but it is the kindness of friends and acquaintances that will help us through.

  15. That is sad news for the present. However, I'm sure this is a small step backwards to take a giant leap forward. You will be much better off in the future. And you'll think back on this as the event that started it all. I know you guys will be better than fine. I feel something really good is coming to you soon. Keep the faith. God will open some incredible doors for you I'm sure of it.
The art gallery is looking fabulous. I love your gifts. They are such cute toys.
    Have a great week!
    hugs♥,
    Caroline

  17. Hi Sharee, I was so sorry to read that your husband had lost his job. I don't know how things are in NZ, but here in Australia there seem to be more job cuts and uncertainty now than at the height of the GFC. It's very worrying - I do hope that he finds another job quickly, and/or that you get more work yourself, so you have some financial security. I've been thinking of you, though slow to comment - hugs, Rebecca xxx

    1. Hi Rebecca. Thank you for your kind thoughts. They are very much appreciated. We believe things will turn out for the better in the long term and are staying positive and looking forward. Hopefully he finds a new job soon as it is a bit of a struggle with only my part time income - I certainly don't have a miniatures budget anymore!
