Blackwork

I have started a needlework project. It is a blackwork table cover from the book Embroidered Projects by Sue Hawkins but I have decided to throw a bit of colour into it. I had a few false starts and lots of unpicking until I got into the flow of it but I am going well now. Hopefully I can finish it before next weekend. It is on 36 count using one strand of embroidery thread. The measurement of the finished table cover in the book is 2.5 inches by 4.5 inches (6.4cm by 11.3cm) but I might need to alter mine slightly to fit onto the piece of fabric I have. I am really enjoying doing it and it is making me think of other embroidery projects I might enjoy. I am thinking of making some miniature felt bags with embroidery on them.

Hope you have all had a good weekend.

  2. This is nice embroidery, Sharee, I love the design, it is so delicate!
I am not familiar with this book, but I think it must be gorgeous to look in and seeing all the ideas for new works in the future :D! Good luck and I can't wait to see your progress.

  3. I love doing blackwork but have failed to find anywhere to buy 36 count anywhere near here. My little people would love me to make decent table linen and cushions for them.
Can't wait to see your finished product. It looks beautiful part done, so will be magnificent when completed.

  6. Usually it's not a good sign if you have to say about someone she's addicted to the needle... but in your case... *grin* Your stitching looks very pretty and I think it's a good idea that you've added a little colour. So happy stitching and I'm curious to see those embroidered bags of yours soon... ;O)

  8. Your stitching is beautiful, Sharee. I must admit I doubt I'd ever have the patience to complete such a project, but thankfully I can watch the progress on yours instead! :-D xo Jennifer

  13. Hi Sharee. I am in awe of anyone who can do miniature embroidery - it is lovely. I can make lots of things but embroidery is most definitely not something I can do. Look forward to seeing the finished project! Celia
