Went to the movies today with Jamie and hubby and saw How to Train Your Dragon II. Great movie. I love having a fairly young daughter so I can go and enjoy all the animated movies. I'm a big kid at heart.
I didn't get a lot done with the book-ends this weekend but I have made some decisions about them.
These are the book-end houses as they stand now:
I am going to use the book-ends more as a display piece rather than functional book-ends and they will have the theme of 'A Town Mouse and a Country Mouse'. Watch this space...
Some of you may recall the miniature gallery 'Selina Rose Gallery' I made for my sister Karen Panton where I scaled down some of her artwork into miniature.
I'm so proud of my sister and I'm so excited for her that she has now featured in the latest The New Zealand Artist magazine. Her artwork is on the cover and the article about her titled 'The Art of Humour' covers 4 pages and 13 of her paintings are included in the magazine. Awesome Sis!
I hope you are all having a great weekend.
=0) That is one of the great things about having kids/nephews/nieces. I can go into the toy shops and the cinema with them without feeling too old ha-ha.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your Sister. Wonderful that her work is recognized by a wider audience. Does she have a blog where I can see her work?
Karen doesn't have a blog yet Pepper but she has been thinking about it. I'll put a link on my blog if she does start one.
DeleteHi Sharee! I think that creativity is innate in your family ;)! Congratulations to your sister for being published in the magazine! Yes, I do remember the gallery made by you.
ReplyDeleteI like to visit the toy shop in our village whenever I can, even without my (adult) kids or nephews and nieces. I guess that in my heart I always will stay a kid, just like you and others ;)...
I love your idea for the book ends, can't wait to see more of it.
Hugs, Ilona
The bookends are coming along so nicely. I love the facades...so welcoming. I remember the art studio you made...it turned out amazing. Congratulations to your sister on the well deserved publication. You are both very talented. :-)

Hi Sharee! I Love your little Book-end houses! And I think the Town Mouse and Country Mouse theme is Wonderful!!! I really look forward to seeing this develop!
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations to your Sister! Publication! Wow!!!
I really like the theme you've chosen for your bookends, hope we're going to see more of it soon. Congrats to your sister for being published, wow, that must be great. And about your cinema visit... hey, animation is an art form! *teehee* A very successful German singer created some kind of a musical fairytale about Tabaluga, the little dragon where in one of the most beautiful songs a wise, old turtle gives advise to the little dragon: Deep inside of me I always remained a kid... whenever I'm not going to feel that anymore it will be too late for me. So try to keep your inside child alive! ;O)

Good advice indeed Birgit. I think we all need to tap into our inner child more often. Sometimes we just need to let ourselves have a bit of fun instead of getting caught up with the stresses of being an adult. I love animation and it is an art form.
DeleteYour bookends are gorgeous. I love the theme you have chosen. Congratulations to your very talented sister on being published.
