Happy Halloween (even though in New Zealand it is the evening of 1 November).
We have traditionally not celebrated Halloween in New Zealand, although over the last few years it is slowly being introduced. I wouldn't let my daughter go trick or treating this year, much to her annoyance, but we did all have a witches hat muffin for pudding last night and have a few paper decorations around. While we don't celebrate it here I personally find some of the decorations for Halloween a lot of fun.
I received this postcard in the mail today. I purchased it via an on-line auction so I could scale it down for the wall of my Timeless Treasures project. It shows a baby with what I understand is an old French toy. I am also hoping to make something similar to the toy for my project.
Why am I posting this picture for Halloween? Look carefully at the top left corner and then look at what has landed on the toy. I hope you can see it.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
IEK, a black fat spider!! HELP! What a great finding, Sharee! But it is a bit too late for me to say Happy Halloween.......but I always can wish you a nice day :D!
ReplyDeleteThat French toy is wonderful, great idea to try to make this in miniature.
Hugs, Ilona
Oh, that spider! I have always found clowns a little creepy too...lol. Great find & looking forward to seeing the mini creation.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day,
Lisa :-)
Happy Halloween and that spider is creepy :)
ReplyDeleteI am to late to wish you happy Halloween, but I can wish you a great November

Happy November at this time for me ;) Spooky spider ...nightmarish!
ReplyDeleteThat photo reminds me of the photos used for Mrs. Peregrine's Home for Unusual Children. The author collected dozens of old photos from flea markets and elsewhere, then wrote a book based on stories he made up for each photo. It's a marvelous book and so creative, just as it was very creative of you to look for and find this photo. I hope you show us what it looks like when placed in a miniature setting!
ReplyDeleteYou know I had never heard of that book but it sounds so intriguing I will have to try to obtain a copy. I see on searching the web that Tim Burton is going to direct a movie based on the book.
DeleteWhat a fantastic photo that is!! Little Miss Muffet.... that spider would chase almost anyone away!
ReplyDeleteHappy All Souls Day!
Buon Halloween anche se in ritardo...
ReplyDeleteSplendida la foto...ma subito non avevo visto la presenza del ragno!
Un abbraccio, Manu
Happy Halloween! How funny it has taken this long to get to New Zealand. A lot of people here are not into Halloween. But I think if you celebrate it right it can be a very nice way to get together with your neighbors and get to know the whole street. I have a feeling that's why it started in the first place. Love the photo!

Is it a spider? so big? Very interesting photo. I don't celebrate Halloween, don't understand it, but my kids love to play around, make costumes and hunt for candies! Mini hugs, Natalia
ReplyDeleteHi Sharee, Thanks for visiting my blog, great photo, I wonder if the spider was real or a prop? The baby is fascinated by it. That doll looks great, would be a big project to make in mini, love to see it.
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret. I have seen one or two other old photos on-line that have had a spider in them too. I think it might have been a good luck symbol or similar at some stage. I have tried to find out about it but haven't had much so far. I'm looking forward to finishing my sister's gallery so I can focus on starting to make some toys for my 'Timeless Toys' project which I am entering in the Undersized urbanite Contest. I think this old French roly poly toy is fabulous.
