I Can't Hear Myself Think!

Help. I can't hear myself think. I currently have ten 10 and 11 year olds running around the house for my daughter's birthday party. Counting down - two more hours to go when most of them leave and then just one friend staying for a sleepover. I can't believe how much noise 10 girls can make, but as long as they are having fun. In between feeding them I am contemplating whether or not to enter the 2014 Undersized Urbanite Contest to challenge myself. I don't live close to anywhere where I can pick up an old dolls house to renovate and I'm not sure I have the skills to make one from scratch, but I'd really like to challenge myself. Nothing like a deadline to get your creative juices flowing.

    1. Thank you for the wishes for my daughter's birthday. She had a great day. I have decided I will build just a one or two room display for the contest and see how I go. I am currently enjoying getting some ideas together.

  2. Hi Sharee, congratulations on your daughters birthday! So they have had their fun party ;)!
Perhaps you can try to build your own dolls house from things you have on hand? I also don't live in the neighbourhood of shops for miniature supplies, so therefore I try to make my own miniatures. It is quite a challenge but also wonderful to build your own dollshouse....I wish you fun and luck to do so.
    Have a great weekend.

    1. Thanks Ilona. It is hard when there are limited craft supplies in your area, but I also think it makes you be that little bit more creative with what you can find. I have decided I am going to building my project but I will start small with just a room or two. I have a project in mind and I am just doing the research for it.

  3. Oh I can understand you soooo good! My son is 15 and my boyfriend got a son (14) and a daughter (7) that lives with me now... the two big boys got girlfriends that come to visit them very often... and other friends come too, of course... and so there is always noise, loud music, stair running and something like this... sometimes deep in the night if I can´t sleep because of the pain of my illness I sit in the light of a candle, listen and just enjoy the silence sooo much! *lol*
    Hope you have survived it!
    Hugs

    1. I hear you Melli about appreciating the silence, although we only have one daughter and she hasn't reached teen years yet (at least not numerically!). My husband and I survived the party and I have to say it all went pretty smoothly. Despite 10 excited girls running around the house there didn't appear to be any dramas and my daughter was really happy with the way the day went.

  4. I hope the birthday was a big success Did you do the owl cake? Pictures! ;P

I do think you can just do a scene/roombox for the undersized urbanite. It states "single room, a garden, a park, a loft made from a shoebox"

Last resort not finding, a full house you can build a room easy ;)

    1. Thanks Jane. My daughter enjoyed her birthday. She didn't want a planned party this year she just wanted to 'hang out and chill' with her friends. That made it easier on us and she was really happy with the way the day went. We just needed to organise food and goodie bags. I am considering doing just a room (or maybe two) rather than a house. I don't want to stress myself out with a big project I can't do in time, especially for my first competition. I really just want to enter it to challenge myself.

  5. Immagino la confusione che regnava anche perché in un gruppo poi si agitano a vicenda! Comunque auguri di buon compleanno!
    Un abbraccio, Manu

    1. Just travelling to my Mum's place about an hour away to catch up with some family on my birthday and I am sure my husband and daughter will arrange a special tea for me over the weekend too.
