Patchwork Quilt and Heidi Ott Baby

It is lunch time on Saturday in New Zealand. I'm really hoping to get some miniatures done this weekend but in the meantime I just want to show you a little Heidi Ott Baby I have purchased who comes with intricate knitted/crocheted outfits. Head to toe she is about 5.5 cm tall (2 1/4 inches). The lady I bought her off got her in Berlin a few years ago.

I made the little crazy patch quilt on the bed by ironing lots of little pieces of fabric to some interfacing and then zig-zagging around them. I then gave it a fabric backing and used a bit of green cotton tape to bind the edges.

I've had a thought on how to deal with the 'sticky' situation with the Selina Rose Gallery and hope to get some work done on the exterior of the gallery this weekend. Hopefully I'll have something to show you tomorrow.

I also need to give some thought on what I can make for a giveaway and what I can make Manu for the July Chirstmas swap.

Enjoy your weekend.

    1. That is the good thing about miniatures. A cheap bag of a patchworker's scraps from the op-shop and you have an endless supply of miniature quilt fabrics.

  2. Hi Sharee! I love the dolly and I love the crazy quilt! What a terrific idea to make it the way that you did. I am not all that handy with a needle and thread so what a wonderful alternative to the traditional way of quilting. Trust a miniaturist to come up with a novel way of getting the mini job done! You done good!

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. I've tried my hand at patchwork and quilting and while I admire it greatly it is not for me. I did however make a miniature hexagonal quilt once by hand which took me weeks, but unfortunately I don't have it anymore. I just might have to try another one some time.

    1. Hi Manu
I am making the Selina Rose Gallery for my sister who is an artist. As far as what I would like for the swap, anything you make will be treasured as a gift from another miniaturist. I will always find a place for it. I do note you have made some lovely cushions, so perhaps a cushion. Just make something that gives you pleasure to make. I am sure I will love it.
